The Persistence of Memory (1931)

November 3, 2015: Tonight on Easy Sonic Living, tune in for some surrealistic audio. We’ll feature an hour’s worth of sounds loosely inspired by Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Through free association with both his body of work and his eccentric persona, you’ll hear from moustaches, elephants and clocks, a text inspired by his 1944 work, Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening and all kinds of evocative, eerie or absurd music. Dali lived a flamboyant life, in which, among other memorable moments, he delivered a speech about authentic and paranoid ghosts (Fantômes paranoiaques authentiques) while wearing a deep-sea diving suit and, in another instance, accused a filmmaker of stealing his ideas through his dreams. ESL invites you to turn on your radio tonight and let you ears plunge you deep into the ocean of your subconscious. At 11 PM on CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal or via ckut.ca on the world wide web…
